Been belt

Have you heard the expression "coffee belt"? This is not an accessory or a gadget. In fact, everything is much more interesting. Today we will talk about what the Earth's coffee belt is, why coffee does not grow in our country and how coffee from different continents tastes.

  • What is a been belt?

The fact is that coffee is a rather capricious culture. It grows best in places where the average annual temperature is 18-24 degrees, and the climate itself is tropical. It so happened that such places on our planet are located along the equator, between 24 degrees north and south latitudes. This can be thought of as a "belt" enveloping the Earth. It is this area and began to be called the coffee belt of the planet.

  • Where exactly is he?

These are the countries that we have historically associated with coffee, namely Brazil (here 20% of the country's area is set aside for plantations), Colombia, Mexico, Kenya, Ethiopia, India, and so on. In total - more than 70 countries. Of course, there are many varieties of coffee, but to summarize, the characteristics are as follows.

  • African coffee is rich, with floral notes of aroma and high acidity.
  • Coffee from South America has an innate sweetness and chocolate flavor.
  • Asian coffee is usually bitter and may have a hint of wood.
  • Where will coffee grow?

Coffee is also grown in the United States, namely in Hawaii, and in California, where the climate allows you to experiment with the harvest. Indonesia is also known for its high-quality coffee, namely the islands of Java and Sumatra (here coffee has an interesting shade of smoke). The country is located close to the equator, and is gradually developing the coffee industry. There is an interesting grain in Africa a little further from the equator, in particular in Zimbabwe. The mountainous terrain contributes to a delicious harvest, and the country uses this resource to the fullest.
